Parma Chief Prosecutor - Scott M. Tuma
Scott M. Tuma
In 2023, Scott M. Tuma was elected to serve as the City of Parma’s Chief Prosecutor and Law Director. Mr. Tuma brings more than twenty years of legal experience to this position as well as an extensive record of public service to the City of Parma. Tuma proudly served the residents of Ward 8 on Parma City Council from July 16th of 2005 through December of 2016. Thereafter, he served 7 years as a Cuyahoga County Councilman, representing the cities of Parma, Parma Heights, and Middleburg Heights. In addition to serving on both County Council and Parma City Council, Tuma served as a voluntary magistrate for the Parma Juvenile Diversion Program. He has also previously served on the Parma Board of Zoning Appeals and as President of the Parma Bar Association. Prior to being elected Parma’s Law Director, Tuma worked in private practice for over 24 years, employed most of that time with the law firm of Robert L. Tuma & Associates.
In his tenure on Cuyahoga County Council, Tuma was the primary sponsor of a charter amendment to give the County Sheriff greater autonomy. This amendment was overwhelmingly passed by county voters in 2019. Additionally, he has zealously worked to provide funding for local drug awareness and prevention programs, as well as working with County leaders to appropriate $5M dollars to the Opioid Innovation Fund, which will establish and test new drug treatment and prevention strategies.
Tuma earned his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (now CSU College of Law), a Bachelor's Degree in History/Political Science from Walsh College (now Walsh university) and a Master's Degree in History from Cleveland State University. Tuma is a graduate of Padua Franciscan High School.
