You may visit the Traffic/Criminal Division of the Clerk’s office during the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday. You can also call at 440-887-7400/option 1.

All traffic/criminal cases are handled by this department. Motions and pleadings filed in all traffic/criminal cases must be filed in the Traffic/Criminal division of the Clerk’s office.

If you are ticketed or arrested within the jurisdiction of the Parma Municipal Court for a traffic violation or a city ordinance violation, your case will be processed in the Traffic/Criminal Department. Many traffic or criminal citations are waiverable, meaning that you can avoid a court appearance by pleading guilty and remitting the fine and court costs by mail, payment within the Payment Center of this site or in person.

Certain citations require your appearance in court. This will be indicated on your citation.

When you appear in Traffic Court, you should bring: your ticket, valid operator’s license, proof of insurance for the vehicle and driver for the date shown on the citation, and adequate funds to pay for fines & costs.

When you appear in Criminal Court, you should bring: copy of citation, any written communication from the Court, Bond papers & receipt, adequate funds to pay fines & costs.

Failure to appear in Court as required will result in the following actions:

  • Warrant for arrest for failure to appear and contempt of court, which is a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine, jail or both. You will be required to post a bond, if arrested.

  • The Court will notify the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles of your failure to appear. The BMV will withhold the issuance or renewal of your driver’s license and registration, and suspend your driving privileges until the case is formally closed.
